Ask a Current DSS Student...
Want it all from a different perspective? Want to hear it from someone who has been there and done that? If you have a question for a current DSS student to answer, just post it here!
They give locker assignments at orientation day. That day is the Thursday before Labour Day. You will receive an invitation to that day in the mail. If you can't come that day, you will get it on the first day of classes. Becky R.
It's Christmas Break right now and since there are no DSS students available to answer your question, I will do it for them! If you miss your bus, you do whatever you do now while you are in elementary school, you find another way to get to school and you make sure you set your alarm to get up a little earlier the next day! Everyone worries about getting lost. There are many things that we do to help you. We have you come to DSS for shadow days, for chess tournaments, grade 8 night, volleyball tournaments, math competitions, grade 8 conference and finally grade 9 orientation day in August. With all of these visits we hope you become very familiar with your new school. Finally, if you are ever late for a class, get to class immediately, it will be up to the teacher to decide what happens from there. If you are constantly late you can be assured that the teacher will deal with it differently than if you are late just once. There is lots of time during breaks to get to your next class on time.
I am really really scared to pick what level of learning i should go into i dunno if i should pick academic applied or locally developed how did you decide its so hard!!!!
When I was choosing my level of courses, I talked to my grade 8 teacher to see what level she thought I would do best in. Since she had taught me for the past year, she knew my work habits and capabilities, and the way I learned best, and was able to give me good advice for which level to take. I also discussed it with my parents and asked their opinion. If you’ve done these and you’re still not sure what level to take, a good idea is to come to the Grade 8 Open House at DSS (there is one on Tuesday Jan. 13, 2009). This is a great opportunity to ask any questions you have about high school, and talk to the actual teachers of the subjects you may be taking in the future. There are people here who can explain the differences in levels, so you can see what will best suit your needs and learning style.
Since it's summer and I don't have any students here to answer, I'll take this one. No matter what future career you are interested in , you can take the required courses at DSS. Your first step in determining the pathway to becoming a vet is to make an appointment with a Guidance Counselor. They'll listen and they'll help you select courses and levels that will get you where you need to go-all with parent or guardian permission of course! So don't hesitate to make a Guidance appointment-the counselors will be a huge help to you as you make your way through high school.(The Guidance office is right across the hall from the main office)

What are all the courses you have to take to become a vet? What are the right programs I should go for nest year?
